What is Gallery?
Gallery is a TradeMe promotion feature that allows you to market your products better by showing the main photo of the product on the search and categories pages.
What is Gallery Plus?
Gallery Plus lets you take advantage of all of the features of Gallery and on top of that, it also gives you Gallery promotion on your next 2 relists if your Gallery Plus listing doesn’t sell.
It costs 10c more than regular Gallery.
You can find out more about Gallery Plus here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/help/743/gallery-plus
Gallery costs $0.55 per listing
Gallery Plus costs $0.65 per listing
Auto Gallery Plus
OMINS and Easylister have a Gallery Plus and a special Auto Gallery Plus feature.
In Easylister, it is located on the right of the product setup page (products -> view products -> auction setup) under Promotions.
In OMINS, it is located on the right under products -> product auction rules (when Rule Type is set to auction).
When Auto Gallery Plus is enabled on an auction, OMINS will use Gallery Plus when the sell through is lower than 77% for that setup. This is calculated based on the last month’s sales history. If there is no history yet, OMINS will just use Gallery Plus.
Why is 77% important?
77% is the magic percentage where gallery plus will cost more than gallery.
Examples:
Let’s do the same calculations for 50% sell through:
Let’s say sell through rate on any given product is 50%:
Suppose there are 100 auctions of this product and 50 are sold.
If they were set up to use Gallery every auction has a Gallery promotion so would have cost $0.55 x 100 = $55
If they were set up to use Gallery Plus, it would have cost $0.65 x 50 = $32.5
For unsold items, we charge 1/3 times the Gallery Plus rate as there are 2x free re-lists but only for items that dont sell 1/3 x 0.65 x 50 (unsold auctions) = $10.83
Total cost: Sold + Unsold = $49.4 + $5.2 = $43.33
So at 50% we save $11.67 by using gallery plus, the lower the sell through under 77% the more we would save.
Let’s do the same calculations for 97% sell through:
Suppose there are 100 auctions of the same product and 97 are sold.
If they were set up to use Gallery every auction has a Gallery promotion so it would have cost 100 x $0.55 = $55
If they were set up to use Gallery Plus, it would have cost 97 x $0.65 = $63.05
For unsold items we charge 1/3 as there are 2x free relists but only for items that dont sell 1/3 x 3 x $0.65 =$0.65
Total cost: Sold + Unsold = $63.70
So in this case gallery plus cost us $8.70c MORE than using regular Gallery promotion. The higher the percentage sell through over 77% the more we save using gallery only.
Advantage of using Auto Gallery Plus
In other words, it’s cheaper to use Gallery only if sell through rate is above 77%.
And It’s cheaper to use Gallery Plus if sell through rate is below 77%.
The Auto Gallery Plus feature ensures that the correct option is used , it starts out using gallery plus but based on the sell through rate of the last 45 days of sales history it will automatically change from gallery to gallery plus. It will start using regular Gallery if the sell through rate goes over 77% and will switch back to Gallery Plus if the sell through goes under 77%.
(note: the percentages are slightly different when dealing with cd’s and books and if the account has top seller status, but don’t worry Auto gallery plus takes these into account also
Exact percentages:
general item without top seller status: 77.2%
books and cds without top seller status: 81.0%
for general items with top seller status: 74.7%
for books and cds with top seller status: 88.6% )
Change all gallery to auto gallery plus
There is an easy way to convert your gallery rules/products into auto gallery plus en mass.
– Go to products->products auction rules in omins (products->view products in easylister)
– Use the checkbox on the top left of the table to select all the products on that page.
– Use select “change all gallery to auto gallery plus” from the “update selected..” pulldown then click apply
You may have to do that on a few pages if you have lots of rules/products
